Scenes from the novel “Taklamakan” - by John Schettler

	The novel is written in “scenes” rather than chapters. The scenes average about 8 pages each in length, and there are a total of 72 scenes with an epilogue comprising the entire novel. Scenes on the list below are hyperlinked to text for on-line reading. A brief description of each linked scene is presented here. You may click on any link and continue on to the next scene by using the links at the end of each scene. These samples should give you some flavor of the novel, and hopefully whet your appetite for the whole story, which will be available in print this year. (About 550 pages in all)

			Quickscene - Drekk Gazes upon the Taklamakan Scene 3 - Road Council: Where Tando hears arguments from his train scouts. Scene 37 - Sky Burial: Where Artuk presides over the funeral for Omu’s men. Scene 46 - Darkened Minds: The Bon Chod Rituals of the Tark Scene 48 - Emissary: Rana confronts the T’ang Emissary Wan Han Lo Scene 53 - Whisper of Night: The Tark’s Curse and Nala’s Tantric Initiation Ritual.

		I have not included any scenes from above 57 because they reveal too much of the plot and conclusion of the novel.
